Originally from Australia, John has always had a passion for architecture and the dynamics of construction. Spending years in Europe and traveling the US extensively has given him an in depth knowledge of the anatomy and developed history of the American home. Although he has lived throughout the world, he has chosen to reside on the east end. Together, with his daughter Olivia, John enjoys the unique lifestyle offered by the Hamptons. John has been working in the building industry for most of his adult life and owned his own residential construction company for 7 years before coming to work for the Fokine Construction team. John is also a certified Andersen installer. He has successfully worked with local government departments, architects and subcontractors long enough to be a familiar face and has maintained a great reputation of work ethic and knowledge. As one of Fokine Constructions talented designers and draftsmen, John works closely with clients to realize their visions and ideas. He is responsible for rendering the homeowner’s lifestyle into workable plans; and often personally oversees the project. John is an excellent intermediary and advocate for our clients needs.

Debbie Speeches
Office Manager


Debbie is a third generation resident of Shelter Island and the proud mother of two adult children; a son who is currently serving in the United States Air Force and a daughter who also resides on Shelter Island. Volunteer assignments that support the Mashomack Nature Conservancy, the Shelter Island 10k Run, and a twenty-one year membership in the Shelter Island Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary are indicative of her strong sense of civic responsibility and consistent advocacy of events and organizations that support the community. She is currently serving as the Ladies Auxiliary President. She is also a member of the Patriot Guards and participates in fundraising with the Red Knights. Debbie majored in bookkeeping and began her career in banking. A subsequent series of successful bookkeeping assignments led to advancement into business office management. She functioned as the office manager in a diverse set of business operations including: Whitney Wood Working, Water Analysis and Propane Gas, Restaurants, Medical and Chiropractic Office. She then advanced to a position of assistant to the Comptroller in an elite private golf club. Debbie is the Fokine Construction Office Manager. She is responsible for all office administration functions including accounts receivables and accounts payables, prompt response, referral and follow up to all inquiries and guarantees efficient overall office administration. When you call Fokine Construction, Debbie is the first voice you hear among a business full of professionals.

Aimee Hanna has earned the trust and respect of her clientele through professionalism and creativity she brings to her work. Aimee’s years in design began with a career in advertising and marketing. After graduation from The College of St. Elizabeth with a degree in Art History, she began a successful career in publishing. As Art Director of The Daily Home News in New Brunswick, NJ for nearly 10 years, President of Visual Persuasion, a direct mail ad agency in Jamesburg, NJ and Ad Director of The Sag Harbor Express in Sag Harbor, NY., her multi-media ad campaigns garnered many awards, both statewide and nationally. Prior to arriving at Fokine Construction, Aimee worked with Dayton-Halstead Real Estate, Corcoran Real Estate and Sotheby’s International Realty and still holds a seat at Georgiana B. Ketcham Real Estate on Shelter Island. Her fascination and experience with the distinctive architecture of the East End lead her into the world of interior design. Aimee streamlines the design process for those she represents and carefully guides them through each step, ensuring that clients specific needs are always successfully satisfied.

After graduating Providence College with a degree in Business Administration, Kevin joined his father’s construction firm where he spent a highly rewarding and educational 5-year career renovating homes throughout Nassau County. Given the opportunity to relocate to beautiful Shelter Island and combine strengths with his brother, Dunning Brothers Construction was established. His talents not only brought Kevin accolades but solidified his approach of combining his great personality, creativity, perseverance and heart to the building trade. Kevin now applies these same highly-developed skills to his work at Fokine Construction. Professional and ethical in every aspect, Kevins ability to read building plans and communicate his needs with architects and draftsmen help to guarantee the homeowner the finest quality construction that money can buy.

With over twelve years of experience in the industry, Paul possesses a strong combination of hands-on construction and management expertise. As a Project Manager for Fokine Construction, Paul draws on his experience of having owned and operated a successful construction company on the East End for several years where he worked closely with home owners, architects, designers, and sub-contractors. Additionally Paul is an experienced tile setter, recognized for his aesthetic sensibility, outstanding work and attention to detail. Paul was raised in Australia and prior to joining the Fokine team, spent time living and working in New Zealand where he helped establish a high-end residential construction firm specializing in energy efficient building and where he furthered his knowledge of international building techniques.

Native Shelter Islander Matt Kast has recently returned from Auckland, New Zealand where he enjoyed success as a residential developer, designer & builder. Dynamic and energetic, Matt has proven himself to be masterfully accomplished in everything he undertakes. His open and personable approach builds instant confidence with our clients, and his ability to coordinate sub-contractors and work force creates a winning combination. Deeply committed to the Green movement, Matt has honed his skills to include installation of solar systems, and continues courses in the LEEDS program. When in New Zealand, he was responsible for establishing the first Andersen Window distributorship in the country and wrote an “alternative solution” to the weatherproofing section of the New Zealand Building Code. Matt’s professional qualifications include a National Certificate in Carpentry. He best utilizes his insight and eye for quality in framing, sheathing, roofing, insulation, doors, trim carpentry, flooring, tilework and pool building. Fokine Construction is fortunate to have Matt Kast on staff.

Green Consultant/Site Manager

Fokine Construction welcomes back Daniel Fokine, our Green Building Consultant/Site Manager. Not only has he been certified "Green" by the National Association of Home Builders, he personally enjoys the benefits of living a "Green" lifestyle! Prior to returning to Fokine Construction, Daniel acted as the Assistant Manager of a small organic farm in Western Massachusetts. He aided in establishing the farm in its first year of business. His hard work, dedication and enthusiasm played a substantial role in its success. Daniel looks forward to making green technology a integral part of the Fokine Construction's scope, by offering clients the option to build healthier, more efficient, and environmentally conscious homes here on the east end.
